VIRTUAL TOUR OF THE WEATHER STATION

AUTOMATIC WEATHER STATION - TEMPERATURE/HUMIDITY SENSOR

The automatic weather station's temperature and humidity sensors are mounted inside a small radiation shield designed in the same way as a Stevenson screen to reduce the effect of direct solar radiation on the thermometers whilst at the same time allowing for a free flow of air inside the instrument. The water reservoir below the sensor feeds moisture via a muslin wick to one of the temperature probes so that the relative humidity and dew point can be calculated. The automatic weather station takes a reading from the sensor every 15 minutes.
