General Situation across the United Kingdom

Today's weather will be dominated by an active trough which will continue to fuel some sharp showers across many areas through the day.

The Local Area Forecast for Northamptonshire

An unsettled prospect across the county today. We are already experiencing some very heavy showers this morning, but once these clear we should see some drier spells although further showers cannot ruled out for the rest of the day perhaps some heavier bursts again during the afternoon. However, all parts will become brighter with some sunshine to end the day. The wind will remain very light from the south-west. Temperatures this afternoon will reach 19C before falling overnight to 9C.

The Outlook for the next few days

Tomorrow should stay mostly dry across the county. There will be some good spells of sunshine for the most part, perhaps clouding over later in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be similar today at 19C falling overnight to 11C. There will be a light mainly south or south-westerly breeze. Low pressure will dominate the UK weather over the weekend centred over Ireland. Across the county we are likely to see a band of rain moving up from the south-west during Saturday morning, clearing to showers through the afternoon. Winds will still remain generally light. Highs on Saturday will reach 17C falling overnight to 12C. Further showers and longer spells of rain will move through the county on Sunday as the low nudges closer. This low is then likely to remain fairly stationary over the UK into the start of next week maintaining an unsettled spell with frequent showers.
