WEATHER REPORT FOR 1972

January is best described as reasonable and very average. February
was similar though it was overcast and damp, it was about average in
rainfall. These two months were notable yet again for their lack of any
amount of snow. Not much snow in March either, it began cold and wet,
then suddenly changed to become warm and sunny. This often happens
at this time of the year, lulling everyone to believe that Spring had
arrived. However, as of'ten happens it did not last. The end of March
and most of April was generally dull and overcast with cold strong
blustery winds.
There was little improvement in May and June, it remained very
cool with a lot of cloud and frequent slight rain. There were some sunny
periods, but not as many as we would have liked. July was also cool and
rather dull, though apart f'rom the very last day it was very dry. August
and September continued in similar style. August was a little brighter
but temperatures never came up to expectations. September which is
very often a pleasant month was a little disappointing, although it was
dry it was very cool and rather dull.
The sunshine of October was almost average. This month was also
very dry, but cold winds and damp, foggy mornings made it obvious that
Autumn had arrived. November was a rnuch wetter month, which also
boasted some sunny days, in fact sunshine and rainf'all were both above-
average for a November. Heavy rainfall at the beginning of' the month
contributed to a much wetter than usual December, again average
sunshine was attained, but at this time of the year it amounts to very little.
After the sunny intervals the year ended foggy, damp and mild.
