WEATHER REPORT FOR 1970
| A cold beginning to the year with some snow followed by mild | ||||
| damp weather. An unusual amount of fog for January and very little | ||||
| sunshine. February was a much sunnier month, in fact the sunniest | ||||
| February for over 20 years. | ||||
| The heaviest snowfall carne at the beginning of March. which was | ||||
| a cold, dull month, followed by an equally miserable April, making | ||||
| Spring very late and getting many gardeners frustrated. May saved the | ||||
| day. Dry, warm, bright and sunny. This type of weather continued | ||||
| through June into July before becoming dull and wet. | ||||
| August was warm but changeable, this weather eventually settled | ||||
| in mid-September to give a very pleasant spell, before some damaging | ||||
| early frosts in October brought an abrupt end to the summer season. | ||||
| Mild, windy and wet describes November, with December similar. | ||||
| becoming cold for the last week of the year. | ||||
