WEATHER REPORT FOR 1970

A cold beginning to the year with some snow followed by mild
damp weather. An unusual amount of fog for January and very little
sunshine. February was a much sunnier month, in fact the sunniest
February for over 20 years.
The heaviest snowfall carne at the beginning of March. which was
a cold, dull month, followed by an equally miserable April, making
Spring very late and getting many gardeners frustrated. May saved the
day. Dry, warm, bright and sunny. This type of weather continued
through June into July before becoming dull and wet.
August was warm but changeable, this weather eventually settled
in mid-September to give a very pleasant spell, before some damaging
early frosts in October brought an abrupt end to the summer season.
Mild, windy and wet describes November, with December similar.
becoming cold for the last week of the year.
