WEATHER REPORT FOR 1960

 
         JANUARY.
         An average month for temperature,but it was mostly cloudy and wet,
         with some snow and frost, but no days of unbroken frost.
         
         FEBRUARY
         An average month but the last few days were very mild.
         
         MARCH
         Cloudy and cold with persistent east winds.
         
         APRIL
         A variable month, some warm days and some very rough cold winds.
         Fairly dry with some night frosts.
         
         MAY
          A pleasant Spring month with some very warm days and only average
         rainfall. A little frost during the last week.
         
         JUNE
         A very variable month, some very high temperatures and several sunny
         days, but severe thunderstorms brought the rainfall total well above average.
         
         JULY
         A cool, wet, stormy month  thunderstorms, sometimes with hail,
         reported from several stations.
         
         AUGUST
         A cold, wet month with sunshine below average. Storms were varied
         thunder heard on 10 days.
         
         SEPTEMBER
         A very wet, cool month. Some days the rainfall was well above average
         
         OCTOBER
         Most recorders stated this was the wettest October for which they had
         records. There was little sunshine, and Easterly winds for most of the Month.
         
         NOVEMBER
         Another very wet month  few days without some rain. However,
         there was an unusual lack of frost and fog, and sunshine was slightly above
         average.
         DECEMBER
         Rather cold and wet, but little snow or sleet.
         
         GENERAL REMARKS
         
         All recorders stated that this year's rainfall was the highest they have ever
         recorded. On average it was about 8.00" above the normal, and more than 13.00"
         higher than in 1959..
         
         A very disappointing summer with little sunshine.
