January
 

Headline: A very changeable month - mild spells followed by colder periods and occasional light snow.

 

February
 

Headline: Generally cold for the first fortnight with a NW’erly flow, then slightly milder but more changeable during the second half.

 

March
 

Headline:  Very dry with what little rain there was falling generally at the start and end of the month.  Temperatures rising initially, but becoming rather changeable during the second half.

 

April
 

Headline: A dry month with rainfall significantly below average and with some warm sunny days around mid month more reminiscent of early summer than early spring.

 

May
 

Headline:  Cool and cloudy. Rainfall back to normal following a very dry April.

 

June
 

Headline:  Generally cool until the last week, although largely sunny. Rainfall significantly below average.

 

July
 

Headline:  Despite a very warm start, much of July saw temperatures below average with a fair amount of rain, a significant proportion of which fell in two separate episodes during the third week.

 
August
 

Headline: A fairly average month. Mostly dry through the first half, and then becoming increasingly wet. Few very hot days.

Headline: Mostly cool and changeable apart from the final week which brought some warm autumnal sunshine
